When I visited Japan for the first time, I was totally blown away by the whole experience. It really felt like being a kid in a candy store, where everything around me was big, amazing and my heart was filled with excitement. There are countless aspects of Japan I fell in love with. I admire people’s pride, their hospitality, their culture and their passion for beauty and perfection, which is portrayed in everything they do.
For those food lovers like me, one suggestion that I always give is to visit the Food Halls (Depa Chika) which are located at the basement level of most department stores. It is an experience not to be missed! You will be spoilt by the most amazing variety of food and its spotless presentation. Even if you don’t feel hungry, it is virtually impossible not to be tempted by the range of products which is available on display. Think Charlie and the Chocolate Factory experience and multiply it by 10! You will see mouth-watering o’bentos (packed lunch) for you to take away and enjoy at the nearest park or, if you need to buy presents for your family and friends, this would be an ideal place to find the latest and the most luxurious treats.
It doesn’t really matter if you end up leaving the place empty handed. You will always be greeted with a warm and contagious smile that only Japanese hospitality can provide.
